Yangwang is BYD's top brand, launched in January 2023 to sell cars above CN¥1 million — roughly US$140,000 — a price band Chinese makers had not previously occupied. The first model, the U8 SUV, was shown on 5 January 2023 and went on sale on 18 April that year.

The brand exists largely to carry BYD's engineering showpieces. Its cars use a four-motor layout BYD calls e4, one motor per wheel, which allows the vehicle to turn on the spot and, BYD says, to keep control after a tyre bursts. The U8 can float and move in water for a short time. The suspension system, DiSus, is BYD's own active setup.

The range is the U8 range-extended SUV and its long-wheelbase U8L, the U7 saloon in both plug-in and battery-electric form, and the U9 electric supercar. Sales are in China only; where a Yangwang model appears abroad it is generally under the Denza name.

Wholly owned by BYD; marketed through Shenzhen Yangwang Auto Sales Co., Ltd.
