Lynk & Co: owner, models, markets and what the name means

Facts checked United States status as of 4 September 2026

Lynk & Co was set up in 2016 as a three-way venture between Geely Auto, Volvo Cars and Geely Holding, and its first cars used the Compact Modular Architecture that Volvo and Geely engineers developed together in Gothenburg. The idea was a brand sitting between Geely and Volvo, sold partly through subscriptions and city clubs rather than conventional dealerships.

The ownership was rebuilt in 2024 and 2025. Under an agreement of November 2024, completed in February 2025, Zhejiang Zeekr bought 20% from Geely Holding and 30% from Volvo Cars for RMB 9,104,721,000 and subscribed about RMB 367,347,000 of new capital, ending with 51%; the remaining 49% stayed with a Geely Automobile Holdings subsidiary. Volvo Cars left the shareholder register entirely.

The brand passed 350,000 sales in 2025, a record, and has been pushing outward: the flagship 900 went on sale in the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Qatar and Vietnam during the first half of 2026, and the 08 launched in Kazakhstan. In Europe it sells the 01, 02 and 08 through its own network.

51% Zhejiang Zeekr, 49% another Geely Automobile Holdings subsidiary; since Zeekr became wholly owned in December 2025 the whole brand sits inside Geely Automobile Holdings.
