Xiaomi EV is Chinese. It is the car arm of Xiaomi Corporation, the Beijing phone and appliance maker founded by Lei Jun; the first car, the SU7, went on sale in China in March 2024. Xiaomi builds the cars itself in Beijing and does not sell them outside China.

Lei Jun founded Xiaomi on 6 April 2010 with six co-founders including Lin Bin, and is its chairman and chief executive.
