Loncin was founded in Chongqing in 1993 by Tu Jianhua and is listed in Shanghai. It builds motorcycles, motorcycle and general-purpose engines and ATVs, with capacity described in the millions of units a year, and it has supplied engines to BMW Motorrad since 2005: single-cylinder units for the F650GS and G650GS, then the 895cc parallel twin for the F900 range from 2019. That is a supply contract, not a joint venture, and the bikes are BMW's.
In 2018 Loncin launched Voge as a premium brand for larger machines, and Voge has become the company's export story. Loncin says its 2025 export revenue rose about 86% year on year with more than 80,000 units sold in Europe, and Voge took close to 4.5% of registrations across Europe's five largest markets, ranking fourth overall in Spain.
Control changed hands in 2024. Zongshen New Manufacturing, part of the neighbouring Chongqing group Zongshen, agreed on 2 July 2024 to buy 504 million shares, 24.55% of the company, for RMB3.346 billion, and became the controlling shareholder by the end of that year. The transaction put China's two largest Chongqing motorcycle makers under one controlling hand.
