Wey is Great Wall Motor's premium brand, announced on 16 November 2016 and named after the surname of the company's chairman, Wei Jianjun. The Latin spelling exists so that English speakers pronounce it roughly the way the Chinese character sounds.
It started with the VV5 and VV7 SUVs and now sells larger, mostly electrified models: the Gaoshan people carrier, the Lanshan and V9X full-size SUVs and the Mocha. Sales were 101,954 vehicles in calendar 2025, up 86% on the year, the fastest growth of any Great Wall brand.
Wey sells mainly in China. Great Wall's Thai and Brazilian websites list Wey models alongside Haval and Tank, and the company announced German and French launches around the end of 2022; the current European position was not established here.
A brand of Great Wall Motor Company Limited.
