Higer is the bus brand of the King Long group's Suzhou company, established in December 1998 and known in Chinese as Suzhou Golden Dragon. Its range covers coaches, city buses, school buses, bus rapid transit vehicles and light commercial vehicles, with electric, hybrid, hydrogen fuel-cell and natural-gas variants.
The company supplied 1,500 buses for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, an order that established it at scale, and passed RMB10 billion in sales by 2014. It employs more than 6,000 people.
Higer is a heavier exporter than most Chinese bus brands and has sold in Europe, Australia, Russia, the Philippines, Thailand, Uruguay, Serbia and Tanzania among others. It is not sold in the United States.
