GWM is the umbrella badge Great Wall Motor uses outside China. The 长城 (Great Wall) name has been on the company's vehicles since it began building them in 1984, but in export markets the initials do the work, and the marques sit under them: a car is sold as a GWM Haval Jolion, a GWM Tank 300 or a GWM Cannon.
How much is GWM and how much is a sub-brand varies by country. Australia and New Zealand sell GWM Haval, GWM Tank, GWM Ora and GWM Cannon side by side. South Africa adds the P-Series pickups and the older Steed. Thailand and Brazil also carry Wey. Several countries still use a Haval-branded website even though the range is broader than Haval.
Great Wall says it exports to more than 170 countries and regions and has passed 1.4 million cumulative overseas sales. Its own market selector lists sales sites across Asia, Europe, the Americas, Africa and Oceania. Nothing is sold in the United States.

- Great Wall Motor. The Chinese name is 长城汽车 (Chángchéng Qìchē) and 长城 is the Great Wall itself; the company is based in Baoding, in the province the wall crosses.
- Is GWM the same as Haval?
- GWM is the company and the umbrella badge; Haval is one of its brands, and the one most often seen abroad. Tank, Wey, Ora, the Poer pickups and Souo motorcycles sit under the same badge.
- Is GWM Chinese?
