Volvo Cars EX90: range, price, specs and where it is sold

The EX90 is Volvo's full-size, seven-seat battery-electric SUV and the first car on the SPA2 architecture, which it shares with the Polestar 3. Volvo has offered 104 kWh and 111 kWh gross battery packs in single-motor and twin-motor forms; the 2026 model year moved the car from a 400-volt to an 800-volt electrical system, and Volvo's US site quotes up to 670 hp (about 500 kW) and up to 305 miles of EPA range.
The EX90 is the main reason a Chinese-owned brand builds cars in South Carolina. Volvo's Ridgeville plant outside Charleston, opened in 2018 and the subject of USD 1.3 billion of investment over the past decade, currently produces the EX90 and the Polestar 3; Volvo said in a press release dated 23 September 2025 that the plant has an installed capacity of 150,000 cars a year and that the XC60 will be added to the same line from late 2026. US-market EX90s are American-built. Wikipedia additionally records EX90 assembly at Chengdu in China, which supplies the Chinese market, and at Shah Alam in Malaysia.
Euro NCAP awarded the EX90 five stars in 2025 with 92 per cent for adult occupant protection and 93 per cent for child occupants; ANCAP published an aligned five-star result the same year. Volvo Cars China lists the 2027 model year EX90 from CNY 459,900 with a CLTC range of 737 km.
