Tank Tank 500: range, price, specs and where it is sold
Facts checked
The Tank 500 is GWM's large ladder-frame SUV: up to 5,070 mm long on a 2,850 mm wheelbase, with seven seats in most trims. It launched in China in 2021 and is built at Tianjin as well as in Thailand, Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
The engines depend on the market. China has had a 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 of 265 kW; GWM Australia sells a 3.0-litre turbodiesel of 170 kW and 620 Nm, a 2.0-litre turbo HEV hybrid of 255 kW and 648 Nm with a 1.75 kWh battery, and a 2.0-litre Hi4-T plug-in hybrid with a 37.1 kWh battery. A far more powerful Hi4-Z plug-in hybrid, quoted at 635 kW on a 59.05 kWh battery, is offered in China.
GWM Australia does not publish an electric-only range for the plug-in hybrid on its model page and no figure with a named test cycle was found elsewhere, so none is recorded here. Australian driveaway prices ran from A$65,990 for the Lux diesel to A$77,990 for the Ultra PHEV on 4 September 2026. GWM Australia shows a five-star ANCAP rating with a 2024 datestamp.
