The Omoda 7 is a stretched version of the Omoda 5 idea: same T1X platform, 4,660 mm long on a 2,720 mm wheelbase, slotted between the 5 and the much larger 9. It was launched for export before it was launched at home — Russia got it in June 2025 and South Africa in November 2025, while the Chinese version, badged Chery Tiggo 7L, was introduced on 2 March 2026 and went on sale on 8 April 2026.
Most markets get a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine of 137 kW through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox; the Russian version is detuned to 110 kW. A plug-in hybrid version, badged SHS, pairs a 1.5-litre turbo engine with a single-speed dedicated hybrid transmission.
Chery quotes 95 km of electric-only running for the plug-in hybrid but the sources checked did not name a test cycle, so no range is recorded here. Omoda South Africa listed the C7 from R539,900 and Chery's China site listed the Tiggo 7L from 85,900 yuan on 4 September 2026. No Euro NCAP or ANCAP result had been published for the model.
