MG MG7: range, price, specs and where it is sold
Facts checked
The MG7 is a petrol-only fastback saloon, the largest conventional car MG sells and the model that carries the badge in China's own showrooms. The current car, model code IP42, launched in China in August 2022 and has no connection to the 2007 MG 7, which was a rebodied Rover 75. It is 4,884 mm long on a 2,778 mm wheelbase, with frameless doors, an active rear spoiler and a dual 12.3-inch screen layout.
Engines are 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre BlueCore turbocharged fours. Chinese specifications are published at 138 kW and 192 kW; MG Australia quotes 170 kW for the 2.0-litre car it sells, so the output depends on the market tune. Prices in China start at CNY 125,900 for the 2026 model year.
Assembly is at SAIC's Pukou plant in Nanjing. Exports began with the Middle East on 22 April 2024, followed by Vietnam on 28 August 2024 and Australia on 8 December 2025; the car is also sold in Mexico. It is not offered in Europe, Britain, Thailand or India, which makes it one of the few MG models absent from the brand's biggest export markets.
