Geely EX2: range, price, specs and where it is sold
Facts checked
The Geely Xingyuan (吉利星愿, 'star wish') is a 4.1-metre battery-electric hatchback launched in China in October 2024 and exported as the Geely EX2 or, in continental Europe and South Africa, the Geely E2. Proton builds and badges the same car as the eMas 5 for Malaysia and Singapore. It is built on GEA, the architecture Geely also uses for the EX5.
It is the best-selling car of any kind in China. Geely says the Xingyuan led all segments — not only electric cars — in full-year 2025 and again in the first half of 2026, with 465,775 units sold in China in 2025 and 194,159 in the first six months of 2026, passing 800,000 cumulative sales in under two years. The updated model launched on 29 May 2026 has guide prices of CNY 64,800 to 94,800 and three battery choices rated 310 km, 410 km and 480 km on the CLTC cycle. Australian and European cars are quoted 345 km on the WLTP cycle, and Australian cars have an 85 kW motor.
Euro NCAP tested a Geely E2 Ultra in 2026 under its four-stage protocol and awarded five stars, with 86% for crash protection and 95% for post-crash safety, while marking down driver leg protection in the frontal offset test. Australian prices start at AUD 26,490 before on-road costs. The car is not sold in the United States.
