Fangchengbao Bao 5: range, price, specs and where it is sold

Facts checked

The Bao 5 is a body-on-frame off-road SUV and the first model from Fangchengbao, the BYD brand launched on 16 August 2023. It went on sale in China on 9 November 2023 with deliveries from later that month, and passed a hundred thousand deliveries on 30 October 2025 at an average transaction price of CNY 271,400.

It is a plug-in hybrid on what BYD calls the DMO, or Dual Mode Off-road, Super Hybrid platform: a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with front and rear motors, a ladder-frame structure, and the Blade battery integrated into the chassis. Chinese specification is quoted at 505 kW combined; export cars are detuned to 400 kW. The launch battery of 31.8 kWh gives 125 km of CLTC electric range, and a Long Range Edition introduced in October 2025 uses a 47.8 kWh pack for 210 km electric and 1,310 km combined.

Outside China the car is sold as a Denza rather than a Fangchengbao, and the badge changes again by region: Europe and the United Kingdom use Denza Bao 5, while Australia, Mexico, Brazil, Singapore, the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates use Denza B5. ANCAP tested the Australian car in 2025 and gave it five stars.
