The Tiggo 7 is Chery's mid-size family SUV, a step up from the Tiggo 4 and one place below the seven-seat Tiggo 8. The second generation, on the T1X platform, has been in production since 2020. Chery Australia sells it with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine of 108 kW and 210 Nm and a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox; larger 1.6-litre turbo versions of 147 kW are used in some markets.
The plug-in hybrid, sold as the Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid, pairs a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with a 150 kW motor and an 18.4 kWh battery through a dedicated hybrid transmission. Chery Australia quotes 93 km of electric-only running on the NEDC cycle and up to 1,200 km combined.
Euro NCAP assessed the Tiggo 7 PHEV in July 2025 and awarded four stars, with 82 per cent for adult occupant protection, 85 per cent for child occupants, 80 per cent for vulnerable road users and 78 per cent for safety assist. ANCAP, which runs its own datestamps, holds five-star results for the Tiggo 7 Pro (2023) and the Tiggo 7 (2025). Chery's China site listed the Tiggo 7 from 79,900 yuan on 4 September 2026.
