BYD Xia: range, price, specs and where it is sold
Facts checked
The Xia is BYD's large plug-in hybrid MPV, launched in China on 8 January 2025 after being unveiled the previous August. It is 5,145 mm long on a 3,045 mm wheelbase, seats seven across three rows, and uses BYD's fifth-generation Dual Mode system with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine and a 200 kW electric motor.
Two Blade batteries are offered. The 20.39 kWh pack gives 100 km of CLTC electric range and the 36.6 kWh pack 180 km, with a combined CLTC figure of 1,060 km from a 50-litre tank. The 2026 model year, launched on 4 November 2025, raised the larger pack's electric range to 218 km and cut the entry price sharply, from CNY 249,800 to CNY 206,800.
The Xia is exported to Mexico under a different name, BYD M9, where it launched on 25 June 2025 at MXN 979,800. BYD Mexico quotes the older NEDC cycle for that car, at 95 km electric and 945 km combined, so its figures are not directly comparable with the Chinese CLTC numbers for the same vehicle.
