BYD Qin L: range, price, specs and where it is sold
Facts checked
The Qin L is a mid-size sedan that sits between the compact Qin Plus and the full-size Han. It arrived in China on 28 May 2024 as the Qin L DM-i, the first car built solely around BYD's fifth-generation plug-in hybrid system, marketed as DM-i 5.0, and opened at CNY 99,800. BYD quotes 80, 120 or, since a January 2026 update, up to 210 km of CLTC electric range and combined range of more than 2,000 km.
A second, separate car followed on 23 March 2025: the Qin L EV, a battery-electric rear-wheel-drive sedan on e-Platform 3.0 Evo with 46.08 or 56.64 kWh Blade packs and CLTC ranges of 470 and 545 km. It shares the name but not the structure, and is 110 mm shorter than the DM-i.
The Qin Plus has not been replaced. It remains the cheaper and smaller car, at 4,780 mm long against the Qin L's 4,830 mm, and started at CNY 79,800 in the 2026 model year against CNY 112,800 for the equivalent Qin L. Exports are limited: the Qin L EV went on sale in Malaysia in September 2025, and the nameplate is absent from BYD's European, Australian and American line-ups.
