BYD e7: range, price, specs and where it is sold

Facts checked

The e7 is a battery-electric mid-size sedan launched in China on 17 May 2025 at CNY 103,800, with two further versions to CNY 115,800. It revives BYD's e-series naming, which the company has historically used for cars sold to taxi and ride-hailing operators rather than to private buyers.

Mechanically it is modest by BYD's current standards: a single motor rated at 100 kW, a top speed of 150 km/h, and Blade lithium-iron-phosphate packs of 48 or 57.6 kWh giving 450 or 520 km of CLTC range. It measures 4,780 mm long on a 2,820 mm wheelbase.

It is a China-only model and does not appear in any of BYD's export line-ups. From April 2026 an e7 sedan has also been offered under Linghui, a BYD sub-brand aimed at ride-hailing fleets, from CNY 95,800. Sources disagree about whether the BYD e7 belongs to the Ocean series or sits outside the Dynasty and Ocean families altogether; BYD's own Chinese Ocean and Dynasty pages did not list it when this record was checked.
