The Aion Y is a battery-electric compact crossover built by GAC Aion, the electric-car arm of the state-owned Guangzhou Automobile Group. It went on sale in China in 2021 and was stretched into the Aion Y Plus, which is 4,535 mm long on a 2,750 mm wheelbase and sits on GAC's own AEP 3.0 electric platform. Motor outputs across the family run from 70 kW to 150 kW, and GAC has published CLTC figures between 430 km and 610 km depending on the pack fitted.
It is the model GAC Aion has used to open export markets. Thailand came first, Cambodia followed in December 2023, and Vietnam in October 2024; the car is also sold in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore. GAC Aion opened its first overseas assembly plant, in Thailand, in July 2024.
Pricing in China has moved down since launch: a new entry trim announced in March 2024 brought the opening price to RMB 99,800, about RMB 20,000 below the previous entry point. Rebadged versions of the car have been reported in Europe and Russia under importer badges; GAC does not list those itself and they are not treated here as confirmed.
