The first electric BMW X3 was built only in China, by the BMW Brilliance joint venture at Shenyang, from September 2020. It was never offered in the United States, Canada or Taiwan. Production ended in 2024; the successor iX3 is built at Debrecen in Hungary from October 2025, with a long-wheelbase version still made at Dadong for China. BMW raised its share of BMW Brilliance from 50% to 75% in February 2022.
