Qianjiang Motorcycle: the group, its brands and who controls it

Facts checked

Listing: Shenzhen Stock Exchange since 14 May 1999, code 000913

Qianjiang began in 1985 as the Wenling Motorcycle Factory in coastal Zhejiang, listed in Shenzhen in 1999 and passed its millionth machine in 2000. It bought the Italian marque Benelli in 2005, which gave it a European design office in Pesaro and a name with a century of history behind it.

Since September 2016 the largest shareholder has been Geely Holding, the owner of Volvo Cars and Lotus, which took a stake of just under 30% and is reported to hold about 36.6% today. Geely does not list Qianjiang among the brands on its own corporate site, and the motorcycle business is run separately from the car group.

The company sells under three main names: QJMOTOR, the Chinese and increasingly global brand adopted in 2020; Benelli, the Italian marque; and Keeway, a Hungarian-founded brand aimed at scooters and small and mid-size motorcycles. It also builds the small-capacity Harley-Davidson models developed under a 2019 partnership, and it has raced in Moto3, Moto2 and World Supersport. Revenue was CNY5.41 billion in 2025, down 10.2%.
