JMC (Jiangling Motors): the group, its brands and who controls it

Facts checked

Jiangling Motors, universally shortened to JMC, is a Nanchang maker of light commercial vehicles: panel vans, light buses, light trucks, pickups and, more recently, SUVs and electric models. The listed company dates from 1993 and its works trace back to earlier Jiangxi vehicle plants.

The shareholder register is unusual for a Chinese carmaker. Ford Motor Company holds 32%, a position built up from 20% in 1995. The largest holder, with 41.03%, is Nanchang Jiangling Investment, split equally between the Jiangxi state group Jiangling Motors Corporation Group and Changan Automobile Group. That leaves a US carmaker as the second-largest shareholder in a company jointly steered by a provincial and a central state group.

JMC has built Ford products in China since the Transit arrived in 1997 and continues to sell Ford-badged vans and SUVs alongside its own JMC, Yusheng, Dadao and Lexing lines. In 2025 the listed company sold 377,253 vehicles, made up of 99,770 light buses, 83,207 trucks, 59,681 pickups and 134,595 SUVs.
