The G9 is XPENG's large electric SUV, unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2021 and launched in China in the third quarter of 2022. It uses the Edward platform, shared with the first-generation P7, and measures 4,891 mm long on a 2,998 mm wheelbase.
Batteries have changed with the model year: XPENG has offered 78.2 kWh and 79 kWh LFP packs, a 93.1 kWh LFP pack and a 98 kWh NMC pack, with published CLTC figures spanning 580 km to 725 km and outputs from 230 kW to 423 kW. A March 2025 refresh added 5C-capable packs, quoting a 10–80% charge in 12 minutes, and upgraded the driver-assistance hardware.
The G9 was among the first XPENG models exported to Europe, going on sale in Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden and later Germany. Euro NCAP tested a left-hand-drive G9 in 2023 and awarded five stars.
