Wuling Wuling Hongguang Mini EV: range, price, specs and where it is sold
Facts checked
The Hongguang Mini EV is the two-door electric city car SAIC-GM-Wuling launched in July 2020 and the vehicle that made the joint venture the volume story of China's early electric market. Wikipedia records Chinese sales of 127,651 in 2020, 395,451 in 2021, 404,823 in 2022, 237,863 in 2023, 261,141 in 2024 and 424,983 in 2025, with global cumulative sales passing 1.1 million by February 2023. In January 2021 it outsold the Tesla Model 3 worldwide, 36,762 to 21,589, according to figures compiled by EVSales.com.
It is a genuinely small car — published lengths run 2,917-3,268 mm on wheelbases of 1,940-2,190 mm — with lithium iron phosphate packs from 9.2 kWh to about 26 kWh, motors of 15-30 kW and NEDC ranges quoted between 120 km and 300 km. SGMW has spun out a long line of versions: the Macaron in April 2021, the GameBoy in March 2022, a Cabrio convertible in September 2022, a four-door body, and a second-generation car in February 2025.
Prices on SGMW's own site put the fifth-generation car at CNY 44,800-55,800 and the Classic version from CNY 32,800. Chinese assembly is at Qingdao in Shandong and Liuzhou in Guangxi; the car is also assembled at Cikarang in Indonesia, at Hưng Yên in Vietnam by TMT Motors and at Vilnius in Lithuania, where it is sold as the Freze Nikrob. Turkey sells a version as the Rainwoll RW10.
