The Mifa 9 is Maxus's large electric MPV, a 5,270 mm people-carrier on a 3,200 mm wheelbase built at SAIC Maxus's Wuxi plant from November 2021 and assembled in Indonesia at Purwakarta by National Assemblers from June 2025. It is the model that carries SAIC's commercial arm into passenger showrooms: Thailand sells it through MG as the MG Maxus 9, India as the MG M9, Singapore as the MG M9 EV and Australia as the LDV Mifa 9.
The published powertrain is a single 180 kW permanent-magnet motor with a 90 kWh ternary lithium pack from CATL. MG Thailand quotes up to 540 km on the NEDC cycle for the seven-seat MG Maxus 9; longer figures circulate for later Chinese versions but without a named test cycle, so they are not recorded here. Luxury versions are configured with six individually powered seats.
Euro NCAP tested the Mifa 9 in 2022 and gave it five stars, with 93% for adult occupants, 89% for children, 73% for vulnerable road users and 83% for safety assist — the highest adult-occupant score of any SAIC model in this set. Export launches ran Europe in September 2022, Australia on 22 November 2022, Thailand in May 2023, Singapore in July 2023, Malaysia in November 2023, Indonesia in November 2024 and India in July 2025.
