Li Auto L9: range, price, specs and where it is sold

The L9 is Li Auto's large six-seat SUV and, for several years, the model that defined the company. It was unveiled on 8 March 2022, launched on 21 June 2022 and delivered from August. At 5,218 mm long on a 3,105 mm wheelbase it seats six in three rows.
It is not a battery-electric car. The L9 is an extended-range electric vehicle: a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine acts only as a generator and never drives the wheels, while two electric motors — 130 kW at the front and 200 kW at the rear — provide 330 kW combined. The first-generation packs were 44.5 kWh and 52.3 kWh, giving 215–280 km of electric-only CLTC range and a combined range Li Auto quoted at 1,176 km.
A second generation arrived in 2026, 5,255 mm long on a 3,125 mm wheelbase with a 72.7 kWh pack, 420 km of electric-only CLTC range and a quoted 1,650 km total. Li Auto began exporting the L-series to the Middle East and Central Asia from 2025; it does not sell in the United States or Europe.

- Is the Li Auto L9 electric?
- It is an extended-range electric vehicle. The wheels are driven only by electric motors, but a 1.5-litre petrol engine on board runs as a generator to recharge the battery, so the car does not depend on plugging in.
- How far does the Li Auto L9 go on electricity alone?
- The first-generation car is quoted at 215–280 km of electric-only range on China's CLTC cycle, or 180–235 km on WLTP. The 2026 second generation raises this to 420 km CLTC.
- How much does the Li Auto L9 cost?
- It launched in June 2022 at 459,800 CNY. Later trims and the 2026 second generation are priced differently; those figures were not confirmed from a Li Auto source for this entry.
