Geely Starray EM-i: range, price, specs and where it is sold

Facts checked

This car carries three different names. In China it is the Geely Galaxy Starship 7 (吉利银河星舰7), launched in October 2024. Geely's own global catalogue calls it the EX5 EM-i. In Australia, the United Kingdom, Indonesia and Spain it is sold as the Geely Starray EM-i, and Proton builds a Malaysian version as the eMas 7 PHEV. It is a compact plug-in hybrid SUV on GEA, the same architecture as the fully electric EX5, and the two are separate models rather than variants of one another.

EM-i is Geely's badge for its plug-in hybrid system: a 1.5-litre petrol engine driving through a single-speed dedicated hybrid transmission alongside an electric motor, for 193 kW combined. The 2026 Chinese model year, launched on 19 November 2025, uses a 19.09 kWh LFP battery rated 130 or 135 km of electric-only running on the CLTC cycle, with a combined range of up to 1,575 km CLTC. Australian cars are quoted on WLTP: up to 136 km electric and 1,065 km combined, with fuel consumption from 1.6 L/100 km.

Euro NCAP tested a left-hand-drive Starray EM-i Comfort in 2025 and awarded five stars, with 90% adult occupant, 87% child occupant, 86% vulnerable road user and 77% safety assist. UK prices start at GBP 29,990. The car is not sold in the United States.
