The Sealion 7 is BYD's mid-size electric SUV, shown in Guangzhou in November 2023, launched in China in the spring of 2024 and introduced to Europe at the Paris motor show on 14 October 2024. It is 4,830 mm long on a 2,930 mm wheelbase and shares its mechanical layout with the Seal saloon.
European cars use Blade batteries of 82.5 or 91.3 kWh. The rear-drive Comfort produces 230 kW and is quoted at 482 km of WLTP range; both all-wheel-drive versions produce 390 kW, with 456 km for the 82.5 kWh Design and 502 km for the 91.3 kWh Excellence, which also charges at up to 230 kW. Export cars use a 400-volt version of e-Platform 3.0, while the Chinese car and the Excellence use the 800-volt e-Platform 3.0 Evo with smaller 71.8 and 80.64 kWh packs.
It is the BYD model with the most consistent safety record across two regions: Euro NCAP and ANCAP both awarded five stars in 2025, with identical scores of 87 per cent adult occupant and 93 per cent child occupant protection and only a one-point difference on safety assist. United Kingdom prices at launch in December 2024 ran from GBP 44,990 to GBP 57,290.
