The Sealion 5 is the export name for the car China sells as the Song Pro DM-i. It is a compact plug-in hybrid SUV, and it is plug-in hybrid only: no battery-electric version is exported, and every market that sells it lists it under a DM-i badge.

United Kingdom specification uses Blade batteries of 12.96 or 18.3 kWh with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 145 kW motor for a 156 kW system output, driving the front wheels. BYD quotes 61 km of WLTP electric range and 991 km combined for the smaller battery, and 85 km and 1,015 km for the larger. Charging is alternating current only, at 3.3 kW.

Two naming traps surround this car. It is not the same as the Sealion 6, which is the larger Song Plus body: the Sealion 5 is 4,738 mm long on a 2,712 mm wheelbase against the Sealion 6's 4,775 mm and 2,765 mm. And it is not China's 海狮05, a separate Sea Lion 05 sold there in both electric and plug-in hybrid form. Neither Euro NCAP nor ANCAP has published a result for it.
