Sur-Ron makes electric off-road bikes and has become the reference point for the light electric dirt bike category. The company was started in Chongqing in December 2014 by three motorcycle enthusiasts and trades as Chongqing Qiulong Technology.
The machines sit between a mountain bike and a dirt bike: the Light Bee, the model that made the brand's name, is small, light and quick, and the range now includes the Hyper Bee, Light Bee X, Ultra Bee and the larger Storm Bee. Road-legal versions are sold in the European Union.
In the United States the bikes are widely used but their legal status is awkward: Wikipedia records that as at 2025 the company lacked NHTSA certification for on-road use, so the machines are treated as off-road equipment. Chief executive Zhuo Liu leads the company.
