Shacman: owner, models, markets and what the name means
Facts checked United States status as of 4 September 2026
Shacman is the truck brand of Shaanxi Automobile Holding Group, founded in Xi'an in 1968 to build military off-road vehicles. Its trucks are among the most widely exported Chinese heavy vehicles, and the brand is often seen in mining, construction and long-haul work in Central Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
The range is organised by number rather than name. X6000 and X5000 are the flagship long-distance tractors; X3000, H3000, F3000 and L3000 cover the mainstream heavy and medium ranges; T5000 is a port tractor. Electric and alternative-fuel versions carry an e suffix, as in L6000e and T5000e. The brand also supplies bus chassis and heavy axles.
Control of the truck-making company sits with Weichai Power, which holds 51% of Shaanxi Heavy Duty Automobile, while the holding group above it remains a Shaanxi provincial state enterprise. Assembly and distribution arrangements have been announced in Algeria in 2018, Pakistan in 2019, Mexico in 2023 and Kyrgyzstan in late 2024.
