The Polestar 3 is a large battery-electric SUV on SPA2, the Volvo-developed architecture it shares with the Volvo EX90. It uses a 111 kWh pack; Polestar UK quotes up to 402 miles (647 km) WLTP and up to 670 bhp (about 500 kW), and Polestar US quotes up to 350 miles (563 km) EPA.
It is built on two continents, in two plants both owned and operated by Volvo Cars. Polestar's 2025 annual report records production at Chengdu in China since the first half of 2024 and at the Charleston plant in Ridgeville, South Carolina since the second half of 2024, and says the South Carolina cars are dedicated to the United States, Canada and part of the European market. Volvo confirmed in September 2025 that Ridgeville currently builds the EX90 and the Polestar 3. The company also publishes separate carbon figures for the two sources: 24.1 tCO2e cradle-to-gate for a Chengdu-built Long Range Single Motor and 24.5 tCO2e for the same car from Charleston.
Euro NCAP and ANCAP both awarded the Polestar 3 five stars in 2025. In the United States the car remains on sale from existing stock: Polestar said on 25 June 2026 that the Bureau of Industry and Security had declined it an authorisation under the Connected Vehicle Rule for model year 2027 onwards.
