The Polestar 2 is the car that established Polestar as a volume brand: a five-door fastback on the CMA architecture, offered with roughly 69 kWh and 82 kWh battery packs in single-motor rear-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive form, and quoted by Polestar UK at up to 409 miles (658 km) WLTP and up to 350 kW.
It is built in one place. Polestar confirmed at the car's Chinese debut on 12 April 2019 that production would take place at Luqiao in Zhejiang province from early 2020, on a line shared with Volvo and Lynk & Co models on the same platform; the plant was then owned by Zhejiang Geely Holding and operated by Volvo Cars. Polestar's 2025 annual report records production since the first half of 2020 and notes that Geely agreed in October 2021 to transfer the plant to Volvo Cars, a transfer completed that December, after which it was renamed from Luqiao to Taizhou. Every Polestar 2 sold anywhere is therefore a Chinese-built car.
In the United States the Polestar 2 is now offered only as a pre-owned car. Polestar said on 25 June 2026 that the US Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security had declined to grant it an authorisation under the Connected Vehicle Rule to sell vehicles in the US from model year 2027, and that it would continue to sell remaining stock of the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 there. A replacement Polestar 2 is due in 2027 on a different platform.

- Yes. Every Polestar 2 is built at the Taizhou plant in Zhejiang province, China - the factory known as Luqiao until Volvo Cars took ownership of it in December 2021. Production started there in the first half of 2020.

- Polestar is a Swedish brand listed on Nasdaq as PSNY. Its manufacturing partners are Volvo Cars and Geely, and its cars are built in plants owned by those companies in China, the United States and South Korea.
