Maxus Maxus Terron 9: range, price, specs and where it is sold

Facts checked

The Terron 9 is the larger pickup Maxus built to succeed the T60, in production at SAIC Maxus's Wuxi branch in Jiangsu since 2024 and sold in China as the Maxus Interstellar X. It is 5,500 mm long on a 3,300 mm wheelbase — roughly the size of a full-size American pickup rather than a Hilux — and comes in two very different forms.

The diesel Terron 9 uses SAIC's 2.5-litre piPlus turbodiesel and 520 Nm, quoted at 165 kW in general specifications and 163 kW by LDV Australia; LDV Australia quotes payloads of 1,005-1,100 kg and 3.5-tonne braked towing. The electric eTerron 9 uses a 102 kWh lithium iron phosphate pack with a 125 kW front and 200 kW rear motor for 325 kW combined, rated 430 km WLTP.

Europe took the vehicle in September 2024, Australia in June 2025 as the LDV Terron 9, New Zealand and South Africa in September 2025, and Pakistan in January 2026 as the MG U9. Australia is unusual in selling the same pickup through both networks: LDV lists the Terron 9 and MG sells it as the MG U9 from AUD 51,990 drive-away. Euro NCAP tested the eTerron 9 in 2024 and gave it five stars, with 91% for adult occupants, 85% for children, 84% for vulnerable road users and 83% for safety assist.
