Geely Emgrand: range, price, specs and where it is sold

Facts checked

Emgrand is Geely's longest-running car name. It began in 2009 as a separate premium marque sitting above the Geely badge, with the Emgrand EC7 saloon as its first product; the marque was folded and from 2014 the name has been a model line inside the Geely brand. Five generations have followed, the fifth (internal code SS21) arriving in 2025.

The current Chinese car is a compact four-door saloon on Geely's BMA platform, 4,815 mm long on a 2,755 mm wheelbase, with a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated 133 kW and 290 Nm. Geely's global site describes a smaller export Emgrand — 4,638 mm long on a 2,650 mm wheelbase — so export and domestic cars under this name are not always the same vehicle, and buyers comparing specifications across markets should check which generation a price list refers to.

The Emgrand is exported widely, including to Egypt, Russia, Iran, South Africa and Latin America, and is rebadged as the Proton S70 in Malaysia and the BelGee S50 in Belarus. The first-generation Emgrand EC7 earned four stars from Euro NCAP in 2011, the first Chinese-designed and Chinese-built car to reach that level; no Euro NCAP result has been published for the current car. Geely does not sell passenger cars under its own brand in the United States.
