Livan is a battery-swap car venture set up in Chongqing in 2022 between Geely and Lifan Technology, the local group Geely had helped restructure. It grew out of Geely's Maple brand and Lifan's vehicle business, and its cars are designed around swappable battery packs, aimed largely at taxi and ride-hailing fleets.
Ownership of the Geely half moved inside the group. Geely Automobile Holdings held 45% of Chongqing Livan Automotive Technology as an associate and agreed on 20 February 2024 to sell it to Zhejiang Geely Qizheng Automotive Technology, a Geely Holding company, for RMB 504 million, so the listed company could concentrate on its own new energy brands. The Chongqing partner has since been renamed Chongqing Qianli Technology.
Geely Holding does not break Livan out in its published sales figures, and the brand is much smaller than the group's other marques.
A joint venture, not a wholly owned brand: the Chongqing partner is Lifan Technology, since renamed Qianli Technology, and the Geely side is held by Geely Qizheng, a Geely Holding company.
Volumes are small and the brand is not broken out in Geely Holding's published sales tables.
